CARBON NEUTRAL
Innovation and Sustainability at Croydon
For the past 25 years, Croydon. has maintained a focus on innovation, design, and fashion, providing its consumers with comfort, safety, and style in footwear, alongside a commitment to sustainability.
Environmental sustainability has become a paramount concern for both governments and industries. As the world progresses, there is a growing demand for production methods that do not harm our planet and protect biodiversity. Croydon is no exception; we have chosen to join this global movement. In this article, we aim to share how we work to achieve our environmental care objectives and how we obtained Carbon Neutral certification from ICONTEC.
Thanks to our continuous innovation efforts and the dynamism we bring to our commercial and marketing strategies, Croydon is now experiencing double-digit growth. We are capitalizing on the current consumer trend of comfortable and sporty footwear, leading with our designs and style in an increasingly competitive market.
We have identified numerous opportunities to offer our customers the best design-quality-price ratio available, both in our industrial and agricultural products and in fashion items for the entire Colombian family. Moreover, we recognize our opportunity to lead the sustainability movement within the industry and to ensure that our manufacturing processes are committed to reducing CO2 emissions.
With a service-oriented culture toward our customers—both internal and external—and with our human resources as a fundamental axis, our over 2,000 employees strive every day to achieve our corporate objectives while also growing personally, familiarly, and professionally. We have decided to contribute to a better future and to become sustainable leaders.
Sustainability Plan
We have embarked on a Sustainability Plan, with the primary goal of being the first Colombian footwear factory to obtain ICONTEC’s Carbon Neutral certification. You may wonder what this entails and how it can help reduce global warming.
Achieving this certification involves implementing a plan or policy dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and offsetting residual emissions. To this end, Croydon has measured its Carbon Footprint—1,458 tons of CO2 equivalent—aiming to reduce it as much as possible and responsibly offset our emissions by purchasing carbon credits, thereby contributing to the conservation of biodiversity and forest resources, as well as environmental protection.
Initiatives and Programs
Within our Sustainability Plan, Croydon also includes circular economy programs, having reused 520 tons of materials internally, as well as energy efficiency initiatives, sustainable mobility, and employee well-being tactics. Our M.A.S Croydon (Sustainable Environment) PVC recycling program recovered over 115 tons of material in 2021. In addition to taking action focused on environmental awareness, we work tirelessly to create eco-friendly products using recycled rubber from tires and other materials in the soles of our boots and shoes.
Today, Croydon stands as a Carbon Neutral brand, recognized as a PRESTIGIOUS BRAND by the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce. We are dynamic, innovative, and equipped with clear strategies for diversification and creation, offering our employees, customers, and consumers a tangible example of the drive, tenacity, and perseverance of workers.
